SWEAR/OBSCENE Words In Lyrics

SWEAR/OBSCENE Words In Lyrics, The Debate!

This is a subject that may or may not be taken seriously but in all honesty this is a subject that is the sole responsibilty of the artist. This is a disscusional subject about the use of Swear Words In Rap lyrics or in any lyrics in general!

If you notice the lyrical content in rappers lyrics or care to listen carefully you may wonder why rappers need to even swear so much in the lyrics they write which they then go and record in the studio to make the track.

When the use of excessive profanity, swear, offensive words are used in the lyrics it not only offends the listener in whatever minor or major degree, but it also shows a lack of lyrical content in the said lyrics and a lack of responsibility on the artist behalf. Then you have to now question the rapper? ? ?

Doe's this rapper actually have any real or good lyrics/lyrical content?
You will have to come to a conclusion, because the conclusion is that when these tracks now go out into the public and go into radio airplay the lyrics then have to be edited! That is why you hear all the reverses. Maybe a few edits add a bit of flava, but you hear some tracks with most of the track being edited and it sounds as if the track is jumping?

Now swearing in the daytime on daytime radio is not allowed, nor at any time in fact, that is why the term Radio Edit exists. But the situation is the swear word is put in the track by the artist, then in order for the artist to have the track played on radio prime time airplay they or the label or DJ need to end up removing the same said swear words by means of editing? ? ?

So why put the swear words in then?
Well this is where I'm gona supply some info for you, but because of the usual systematic format that HipHop is in, the artist's may be scared to try something new or just be stuck in their ways, which in effect the artist is not upping the levels to streach the boundaries and create something new to show originality and leadership!

Just imagine if Jay-Z never used the Nigga word again in any of his raps, but filled it out more skillfully and ended up giving even more quality lyrical content? That in itself would propel Jay-Z to another level, He would not even have to worry about having his tracks edited or wondering if the swear words would be a bad example to the kids buying his music making him rich! That in itself is more than giving back to the community.

Then you got the fact that saying NIGGA in the raps is another situation!
Because the word NIGGA is not a normal nice everyday word! We know the history so I won't go into that, You guy's can post your comments about that!

But a funny thing happened just yesterday when I looked on youtube and came across a Kanye West live performance where he is standing on a desk in a class room apparently at facebook?! Now when he about to perfrom he then says at 0:10 sorry for use of the N-word (NIGGER)! Then he start's spittin and he saying NIGGER like over 50 times! The clip is of Kanye West Performs 'Mama's Boyfriend' at Facebook. Of course Kanye got lyrics but it makes you wonder him being at this point in his career, being in the environment he was in this video, what made him say sorry for the use of the N word? This is what this whole Blog is about.

So I will let you decide? Below is the video:

Now don't get me wrong, Swear words are used as part of expression, but as the artist you are also classed as a (ROLL MODEL) which you may not like, but you have a responsibility to set level's. I have not even gone in deep, but I will move onto the list of other words a rapper can use instead of the same old obscenity!

For example instead of saying SHIT, you could say CRAP, SHEEZE, DAMN, WHACK. Instead of saying FUCK you could say DAMN, HECK, HELL, RASS.

These are just a few alternatives and when It gets to a stage in a rapper's career where they now have to say sorry for using the N word you have to now raise the bar a little higher to show extra intelligence especially when you have earned millions of £$ from the craft!

It's gonna be a waste of lyrical space because the Record Label can not allow a track with swear words to be played on the radio in the daytime or in general as it is obviously not appropriate. We don't need to figure out what the reason is?!!!!

With that I will return with updates in the near future! Try not to swear while your constructing your creative lyrics. Raise the bar and surprise yourself and your fans by filling out your lyrics with constructive content and none or minimum obscene words!

Bless Up
